Why More Brands Should Be Like Birkenstock

Beware of shiny new marketing trends, my friends. We are constantly bombarded with new things businesses should do to innovate, stay competitive, and gain new customers. 

 

Growth is important but not at the expense of alienating your loyal customers/clients, and forgetting your core message may be detrimental to a brand. You don't need to rebrand, rename or refresh (we're looking at you Twitter/X), but you do need to evolve in a way that is true to your mission. Customers want consistency, not confusion and chaos. 

 

BIRKENSTOCK is a lesson for all businesses and brands about staying true to your roots and mission. Throughout the decades, the brand has adapted to changing times and audiences without alienating those who’ve been loyal since its U.S. heyday in the 1960s. They never rebranded and never reinvented themselves. They've added new colors and styles to attract younger audiences but never stopped telling their authentic story and never stopped selling the style that made them popular in the first place. Comfort and quality are still their focus. 

Birkenstock is valued at nearly $10 billion, with a possible IPO in September. Oh! And they got a little boost recently from a movie you may have heard of called Barbie.
